Concerts
Under
the Stars
Concerts Under the Stars is an immersive full-dome concert experience curated by the Grand Rapids Public Museum’s Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium, highlighting local musicians and visual artists. Local West Michigan bands will perform their music, enhanced by original video art projected onto the seated Planetarium’s 50-foot dome. Upcoming local visual artists collaborate with the musicians to weave together an exclusive immersive concert experience. Concerts Under the Stars has quickly become a staple of the underground West Michigan music scene. Visitors are invited to explore the Museum’s first two floors of exhibits during the cocktail hour before the concert.

Slow Spell feat. Visual Artist Emily Hromi
Thursday, March 13 & Friday, March 14, 2025
About Slow Spell: Slow Spell is an experimental rock band from Traverse City, Michigan. Knotted guitar, hypnotic bass, and dynamic drums weave together around the melodic and deeply powerful vocals. The resulting sound is somewhat enigmatic. For this very special performance at the Grand Rapids Public Museum the band will be bringing their improvisational practice to a live audience for the first time. Each night’s second set of music will be crafted live; with the planetarium’s visuals and audience energy helping guide what’s created on stage. Slow Spell consists of Laurel Premo (vocals), Chris Stefanciw (guitar), Peter Lepczyk (bass), and Will Thomas (drums).
